Conversational Spanish classes at Las Olas
Course: Beginning Spanish I
Time: Tuesday evenings, Jan. 13 – March 3 - 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. – 8 weeks
Cost: $85 (includes a $5 fee for materials)
# of participants: 8 minimum – 10 maximum
Course content: This course is open to beginning students with no prior background in Spanish Basic conversational skills will be introduced; Spanish pronunciation, vocabulary, introductory grammar, useful phrases and idiomatic expressions. Specific topics (such as food, how to place an order in a restaurant, reading menus, etc) will be decided by the group. Materials are customized to fit the needs of the group and each participant will receive a packet that will correspond to the lessons.

Course: Beginning Spanish II
Time: Monday evenings, Jan. 12 – March 2 - 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. – 8 weeks
Cost: $85 (includes a $5 fee for materials)
# of participants: 5 minimum – 10 maximum
Course content: This course is a continuation of Beginning Spanish I and assumes students have some background in Spanish. Basic conversational skills will continue to be introduced; Spanish pronunciation, more basic vocabulary, grammar (conjugation of regular and irregular verbs), useful phrases and idiomatic expressions. Specific topics (such as food, clothing, telling time, how to place an order in a restaurant, reading menus, etc) will be decided by the group. ________________________________________________________________________
About the instructor: Catherine Murphy is an experienced World Language teacher,
certified by the State of New Hampshire to teach Spanish and French. She has experience working with all ages and taught Conversational Spanish I and II for Adults at the NH Technical Community College (now Great Bay Community College). She lived in Costa Rica for two years and is currently a part time Spanish Teacher at the Seacoast Academy in Hampton Falls.
